How it all began
Established in 1977, Florida Safety Equipment Company Inc. serviced the road contractors in the tri-county area with barricades, signs and safety equipment. Installations of traffic control systems and permanent traffic signage was our expertise. Contracting with the road builders, Florida Department of Transportation and local governmental agencies in the tri-county area formed the foundation that we build upon today.
As the market changed over the years, FSEC Inc. was in position to adapt. In 1995, FSEC Inc. entered the decorative market with a small line of decorative aluminum mailboxes and signs; Mailbox World was born. Rapid growth followed; within two years we decided to pursue the decorative market with all of our resources. In 2000, we installed a state of the art powder coating system to process and finish all of our products. Heavy investment in new designs and manufacturing technology gives us the necessary edge over our competition.
While our growth is focused in the decorative market, FSEC Inc. continues its operations in the federal and municipal traffic signage industry. Indian River County contracted FSEC Inc. to restore nearly 5,000 traffic signs damaged by the hurricanes of 2004. Similarly in 2006 Broward County awarded FSEC contracts to replace more than 8,000 signs after Hurricane Wilma.
In 2007, our new 20,000 square foot manufacturing and powder coating facility will open in Fort Pierce at the Kings Highway Industrial Park. This facility will increase our production capabilities tremendously while launching us into many new market areas. Our philosophy is to have control over all phases of manufacturing including assembly, powder coating and installation; this has proven to be the key to customer satisfaction, growth and stability.
